Great to be Eight!!!!!

My Monica Rose was baptized on Saturday, January 8th. She was supposed to be baptized on January 1st at 1:00. I know getting baptized on 1-1-11 at 1:00 would have been cool but it didn't happen. In fact another lady in the stake called and asked if she could have the time and date so they could get the 1-1-11 at 1:00. She got it. We had already decided to switch the date due to family. What is important all in all is that she got baptized.

Before we went to the church. This is the dress she actually got baptized in. Our ward provides it. And her hair back in a braid so it won't come out of the water.

Her with her favorite picture of Jesus in our front room. Cute girl.

After we got home. She is officially baptized. I forgot my camera at the church. Luckily my FIL got a few pictures but I haven't seen them yet. Such a pretty girl.

Again with her favorite picture. :)

I took her shopping for this dress. She loves sparkles and glitter. I let her pick this dress out. I call it her "miniature wedding dress." She loves it. When we were shopping the store had gloves, hair accessories, and gloves prom dresses. I mean it is her type of store. She asks me, "Can I get some long gloves?" I tell her "No." Then she asks, "Can I have a tiara?" I answer "No" again. My heavens child!! It's your baptism, not your wedding. Now shopping for her wedding dress really scares me. ;)

It was a really great weekend. She was able to have both sets of grandparents up for it and her Grandma Kitty was able to talk on baptism and her Grandpa Schwartz gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. And Grandpa Jake and Grandpa Schwartz were able to witness her baptism. Even the giggle that we heard when she came out of the water. :)

A very special day indeed.

Christmas Dresses....

Here are the 2010 Christmas dresses. I did have a method to my madness. As usual. The "theme" this year is jewel tones.

Megan got black. Okay. It's not really a jewel tone per se. But it does work with the rest of the dresses and what other color could I come up with? She does look cute and going up fast.

Karly got navy blue. It's sleeveless. Still trying to figure out sleeveless winter dresses in Utah after all these years but I digress. I wanted the blue color for her because only her and Megan have blue eyes. :)

Monica had to have red and sparkles. She's my Christmas baby and red is a Christmas color so there you have it.

Katelyn got purple. I wish I had gone with a solid purple dress now but oh well. It is cute dress anyway.

And Baby. She's the one that inspired it all. She had to have a green dress. Green is her signature color after all. :)

The whole crew. See. You can see the whole theme. Jewel tones. And yes. With matching hair bows and such. Mike just shakes his head how much thought I put into the dresses for Christmas and Easter. But I know he is proud of the result.

To prepare yourself, start studying Daddy's Rules for Dating.

Daddy's Rules for Dating

Rule One:
If you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure not picking anything up.
Rule Two:
You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter's body, I will remove them..
Rule Three:
I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of your friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise: You may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, in order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact come off during the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist.
Rule Four:
I'm sure you've been told that in today's world, sex without utilizing a 'Barrier method' of some kind can kill you. Let me elaborate, when it comes to sex, I am the barrier, and I will kill you.
Rule Five:
It is usually understood that in order for us to get to know each other, we should talk about sports, politics, and other issues of the day. Please do not do this. The only information I require from you is an indication of when you expect to have my daughter safely back at my house, and the only word I need from you on this subject is: 'early.'
Rule Six:
I have no doubt you are a popular fellow, with many opportunities to date other girls. This is fine with me as long as it is okay with my daughter. Otherwise, once you have gone out with my little girl, you will continue to date no one but her until she is finished with you. If you make her cry, I will make you cry.
Rule Seven:
As you stand in my front hallway, waiting for my daughter to appear, and more than an hour goes by, do not sigh and fidget. If you want to be on time for the movie, you should not be dating. My daughter is putting on her makeup, a process than can take longer than painting the Golden Gate Bridge . Instead of just standing there, why don't you do something useful, like changing the oil in my car?
Rule Eight:
The following places are not appropriate for a date with my daughter: Places where there are beds, sofas, or anything softer than a wooden stool. Places where there is darkness. Places where there is dancing, holding hands, or happiness. Places where the ambient temperature is warm enough to induce my daughter to wear shorts, tank tops, midriff T-shirts, or anything other than overalls, a sweater, and a goose down parka - zipped up to her throat. Movies with a strong romantic or sexual themes are to be avoided; movies which feature chain saws are okay. Hockey games are okay. Old folks homes are better.
Rule Nine:
Do not lie to me. I may appear to be a potbellied, balding, middle-aged, dimwitted has-been. But on issues relating to my daughter, I am the all-knowing, merciless god of your universe. If I ask you where you are going and with whom, you have one chance to tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have a shotgun, a shovel, and five acres behind the house. Do not trifle with me.
Rule Ten:
Be afraid. Be very afraid. It takes very little for me to mistake the sound of your car in the driveway for a chopper coming in over a sand dune near Baghdad . When my post traumatic stress syndrome starts acting up, the voices in my head frequently tell me to clean the guns as I wait for you to bring my daughter home. As soon as you pull into the driveway you should exit the car with both hands in plain sight. Speak the perimeter password, announce in a clear voice that you have brought my daughter home safely and early, then return to your car - there is no need for you to come inside. The camouflaged face at the window is mine.

Happy 70th Birthday Daddy!!!!

Yes. It's true. My daddy turns 70 years old today. I know I have Christmas and baptisms to write about but those can wait! This takes priority! :)
My dad is the most wonderful person any child could want for a father. Sure he got mad at us and spanked us but we were kids. He would always apologize after he spanked us and tell us he loved us. When your bum is hurting from the spanking you really don't care about the love part but you appreciate it later.
So here is brief history in pictures of my dad, Alan B. Schwartz.

He is about 2 years old here. So January 1943. He's a cutie I know!

My dad at about 18 months. He used to have light brown hair. Now you know where I get my curls from. :)

My dad at about 5 years old. He's the one to the left on the shorter bike. He's with my Uncle Bob who is the one just older than him.

My dad around 8 years old. Yep this is how he looked when he got baptized. :)

I love this picture of my dad's family. He's the most handsome boy on the right with the attitude. :)

My daddy before his mission.

My mom and dad at their wedding reception in January 1968. They are a beautiful couple aren't they.

My dad is not holding me but I still love this picture. He is sleeping holding my sleeping brother, his only son. Just precious. He still loves babies.

My family before Sarah (my baby sister) was born. I'm the one rocking the awesome blue muumuu. Don't be jealous. My dad looks happy and my mom just looks....tired. Now I now why. 5 kids will do that to you.

My daddy and I on my baptism day. Again no need to be jealous of my amazing fashion sense. It's just me rocking the white knee socks and white sandals.

Mom and dad with me on my wedding day. Sniff!

My daddy holding my baby, Mikayla. Baby loves this picture. Mikayla is wearing the dress that I was blessed in. I love this picture.

And my dad being silly with my kids and cousin Emily.

I love my dad and my girls adore their grandpa. He is the best ever. They love him and his blueberry pancakes. ;)

Happy Birthday Daddy! Love you lots!

The TPLs....

Years ago my oldest sister, Susan, told me that there was a set of "Toddler Property Laws." She actually had them printed and framed. That way if a child of hers ever complained about what the toddler at the time was doing, she would just refer them to the TPL's.

So here they are.

THE TODDLER PROPERTY LAWS

1. If I like it, it's mine.

2. If it's in my hand, it's mine.

3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.

4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.

5. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.

6. If I'm doing or building something, all of the pieces are mine.

7. If it looks like mine, it's mine.

8. If I saw it first, it's mine.

9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it
automatically becomes mine.

10. If it's broken, it's yours. No. Wait. The pieces are still mine.

Halloween 2010.....

Late as usual posting this. What else is new?

Halloween was fun this year. Because it fell on a Sunday, Trick-or-treating took place on Saturday. I rather liked it on a Saturday.

My 2 babies with the pumpkins for this year. Mike and I like this one because it almost looks like Mikayla is sitting in the pumpkin. :)

Miss Megan dressed as a 50's girl. I made the skirt. :) I ordered a costume for her off eBay but I hated it. Thought it looked too cheap. I should have made it to begin with. This is most likely her last year trick-or-treating. I think she would be really pushing it if she went next year.

I think this costume suits Karly. Then again a half angel/half devil would suit most children and adults too for that matter. But that's who she is. She can be the sweetest and most helpful child on earth but once she gets mad she can be evil. ;)

Monka Rose as princess Snow White of course. Bought this one. Did not feel like sewing THAT much. I did make the headband. She is super cute though.

Katelyn as her new favorite princess, Tiana. There was no way I was going to attempt making this one so of course I bought it. Such a cutie!!

What would a princess be without her frog? :) Mikayla said that Katelyn could only kiss her on the cheek.

Baby's favorite color is green. So when a friend said that we could borrow this costume the "Princess and the Frog" pair was born.

The whole crazy bunch. Love them all! :)

Filling His Shoes.....

Have I ever mentioned how much my Baby makes me laugh? I probably have.
Conference weekend (notice the TV in the back round) is a weekend I love. This was during the Sunday morning session. Mike had left his shoes and socks by the couch from when he went to the Priesthood session the night before. Yeah, I should have known she would try this.

I love her cheesy grin. :)

So this is what a men's size 13 looks like on a preschooler size 8.
She knew she would get a laugh so that's why she did it. Plus I think she adores her Daddy so much she wants to be just like him. Which includes doing things like this just to get a laugh. Like father, like daughter. And it makes me happy. :)
